World's smallest sketchcrawl
SOOOOO Miss Mickey and I could not get our collective sh!t together. Actually, that's not true. I stayed up too late last night, and woke up groggy as crap and therefore we couldn't make it down to the
SF sketchcrawl in time (11am).
So I schleped to the local university's Earth Day celebration and saw the world's happiest aikido instructor (grinning as he danced and dropped his partner), vaguely goth bellydancers (say what?) and a local capoeira grupo. Their maestro might be holding some
batucada workshops in the future.
Oh, the scanned sketches. Btw, a big girl doing capoeira is pretty awesome.
ETA: This reminds me, I was trolling telefutura, milking my three years of spanish for what it's worth, and caught this cheesy Marc Decascos movie (redundant much?), Only The Strong. Mr. D sporting that 90's mushroom hairstyle that 90% of my brown brothas had (you know the one), shirtless, doing capoeira to the goofy strains of what up to that point was The Mazda song, but turns out the full chorus is "zoom zoom zoom ohh capoeira". Gaaawwwd. That scene! Everyone's so fricking happy-- like beach blanket bingo only with martial arts and no girls. To quote the simpsons, it's horrible... horribly entertaining. I can't fricking see another mazda commericial without thinking of of Mr. Iron Chef America. Decascosssss!
