Happy halloween.

After the movie* I swung by a the bookstore and saw Wicca and Witchcraft for Idiots in the window. Oh, that's a recipe for danger (see? it's on page 43, next to "Recipe for Revenge as seen in 'The Craft'").

On the lefthand corner is my wiccan college roomate taking me to task. Snerk.

*Huckabees. "How am I not who I am?" You'll either love it or hate it.

It finally rained, thank god, the smog in the valley was retched.

Thanks to Ryan for the hook up on the new Robots trailer. I saw a smidge of footage at Siggraph this summer, eager to see more. Featuring Ewan McGregor ('s voice.) Also, CAN'T WAIT for his new tv series Long Way Around -- globe trekking? on motorcycles? with Ewan Fricking McGregor? It's the holy trinity, folks.

Other than that, busy busy w/ some commission digipaints. Yay!

Big deal.

Putting aside the upcoming vote and the on-going war turmoil, the big news last week (okay, to a nerd like me) was the success of SpaceshipOne winning The X Prize as the first "successful non-goverment spaceship". Did that get coverage? Not really. But we did get hourly updates on farting mt. st. helen's.

I know that SpaceshipOne is like seeing a new Hummer in your neighbor's driveway. "Nice for him. What does that mean for me?" But seeing the on-ship footage, the shots of earth from above, even the weightless m&m's in the cabin* rendered me giddy like a school girl.

*not potato chips, sadly. hehe, ah simpsons.

Follow up: Speaking of small art world (well, I did last blog entry), one degree of seperation leads me to Ryan Sias's new webcomic. Check it!

Back from Sac

Took some time out to visit friends and family in Sac. My mission was to prove Sacramento wasn't the cowtown I remembered. Highlights:Open Gallery Art walk, tapas, Brit pub in Midtown that I WILL visit on a less busy night, and a free jazz concert by the river. With The Charlie (Fricking) Hunter Trio. WHAT?!? This band I wanted to see in the bay forevah and I see them for free in Sac. Oh yah!

Migratory Patterns

The joy and pain of free music is finding a spot to squat. Went with M., and over the din we navigated the crowd via an intricate dance of jesturing and wiggling that would have made a bumblebee proud.

Sketches of Sac

The unfortunate thing is old town Sac shuts down after 9pm. It's like Bourbon Street-- sans boobs, beads, boys and borboun.

Ways, I'm back.
